The students should get hands-on experience with a collection of tools as part of the course. Below is a list of possibilities, but we can also add tools as part of each central theme description.

  • Apache Spark
  • Apache Spark Streaming Twitter module
  • twitter4j Java library (or another Twitter library)
  • Ushahidi
  • Twitris or something similar
  • UiB has a collaboration agreement with IBM giving us access to BlueMix
